Where does the time go?

To begin this blog, let me apologize to all of those friends and family that have continued to come and check out our site only to leave wondering what we have been up to. We have been up to holding our little wonder, looking into the eyes of our future, loving each crinkle and baby roll, and most important loving God because He first loved us.

I can't explain parenthood, other than it feels like it is something right in a world of wrong. Avery has finally started to put on weight. She gained one pound three ounces in one week. Our dainty little girl will be a blue eyed chunk at this rate and we couldn't be happier. She is eight pounds four ounces today. Here are some pictures from our last couple of days including fun bath time.

I title the following picture: Avery's Season Of Discontent

This next picture is one of Lauren giving baby Avery a bath:
The next picture is just a snapshot of what is going on in Avery's mind during Bath #1

Good Night

Last night was a good night. We experienced what we seem to remember is called sleep last night. Avery, slept for two different times for three hours plus. And there was much rejoicing. Yay! Here is a video that my mom took as they were checking out Avery right after her birth on Friday.

My baby girl does not like to be naked. Good girl.

Monday night was a night filled with poor Jets Football, Dancing with the Stars, and a little girl who has stolen our hearts. Avery is adjusting relatively well to her new surroundings. She was able to sleep for one period of over three hours which was amazing. Avery has yet to spend a single night in her room that we prepared for her, but I'm told that is relatively normal.

First night at home

Thank all of you. You have truly overwhelmed us with all of your kind words, heartfelt visits, and offers of help with the new addition. Avery spent her first night in our home Sunday. She spent most of the day dozing and most of the night seeking food and comfort. So she is basically like a college student. :) We have spent time encouraging each other and know that the night feedings will only get better. You cannot hold your girl and have her wrap her little hand around your finger and doubt the existance of the Creator. He is there and He is wonderful.

Bringing Avery Home

Today is a Sunday and it is appropriate that we are bringing home one of Gods wonders of creation on the day we celebrate and worship Him. Experiencing the birth of your own child is an awe inspiring thing that literally makes you want to hit your knees and praise God for his power, goodness, and grace. Later you will again hit your knees... in exhaustion this time... which is where you again seek God and he picks you up again.
Avery Elizabeth Brown is here. Avery's name means noble leader dedicated to God. Avery is a gift which God has entrusted to us, as screwed up as we are, and we pledge to bring her up after him. Avery's name is our prayer for her. Let Jesus Christ be glorified in her and through her.
