Avery is now walking
Our baby girl is just over eight months. She began to crawl a little over two weeks ago, and last tuesday she began to walk. She pulled herself up on her activity table down at Aunt Linda's condo in Orange Beach and let go. She then took about 3 steps. The record now stands at twelve steps. Avery is our little girl, and we love her beyond measure.

Avery and Papa Cook
This is a pic that makes me smile each time that I see it. Everyday I see traits of Lauren and I and traits in Avery that are completely unique and 100% Avery. Then there are times that she takes her bubble mountain bath and gives herself a bubble goatee. It is in those times that I find myself looking into the smiling face of little Papa Cook. It cannot be denied.
Secondly I realize that many of our pics surround baby bath time. I think that all those parents out there understand however. After a long day at work, baby bath time is a time where the family gets to splash around and just have fun. We cherish these times. Until the next time I attempt to fill the bath with more bubbles than I really should, and Lauren gets bubbles placed on her head, good night and remember to always cherish each and every moment.

Long Time No See
Yes, this is the same little girl that came into our lives six months ago. She has grown so much, and I cannot believe how time flashes away. I am sorry that we haven't had a chance to post and update the site. Life happens and we find ourselves working, spending time with our daughter, hanging out with our church family, sleeping, and going back to work.
As for the pic, this is bath time the other night. Can't you just see Gary Cook smiling back at you on that pink towel? If not, I may paste a paper goatee on the pic and repost. Good night!

Where does the time go?
To begin this blog, let me apologize to all of those friends and family that have continued to come and check out our site only to leave wondering what we have been up to. We have been up to holding our little wonder, looking into the eyes of our future, loving each crinkle and baby roll, and most important loving God because He first loved us.

I can't explain parenthood, other than it feels like it is something right in a world of wrong. Avery has finally started to put on weight. She gained one pound three ounces in one week. Our dainty little girl will be a blue eyed chunk at this rate and we couldn't be happier. She is eight pounds four ounces today. Here are some pictures from our last couple of days including fun bath time.

Good Night
Last night was a good night. We experienced what we seem to remember is called sleep last night. Avery, slept for two different times for three hours plus. And there was much rejoicing. Yay! Here is a video that my mom took as they were checking out Avery right after her birth on Friday.
My baby girl does not like to be naked. Good girl.

Monday night was a night filled with poor Jets Football, Dancing with the Stars, and a little girl who has stolen our hearts. Avery is adjusting relatively well to her new surroundings. She was able to sleep for one period of over three hours which was amazing. Avery has yet to spend a single night in her room that we prepared for her, but I'm told that is relatively normal.

First night at home
Thank all of you. You have truly overwhelmed us with all of your kind words, heartfelt visits, and offers of help with the new addition. Avery spent her first night in our home Sunday. She spent most of the day dozing and most of the night seeking food and comfort. So she is basically like a college student. :) We have spent time encouraging each other and know that the night feedings will only get better. You cannot hold your girl and have her wrap her little hand around your finger and doubt the existance of the Creator. He is there and He is wonderful.
